Perceivable Nature
Grumak Doublebeard is a stout dwarf packing quite a lot of muscular structure. The barrel-chested divine spellcaster doesn't look like much of the aforementioned, as he lugs around a battleaxe and a shield at all times. The equipment is just regular dwarven nature however, and there's quite a benevolent expression most times on his face. But when need be, he can be quite a mean and loud-mouthed fellow, and generally he speaks very ...un-clericly.
Despite his ruined face, he is a very charismatic dwarfperson. Not often do you see him with his beard or hair in an unkempt condition, no, quite often he can be seen combing through it while musing about the day's agenda, straightening out wrinkles in his garb and occassionally picking up a rag to polish his armor and arms with. Not only that, but he has a way with people - most times things between him and whoever just knack.
If it weren't for the wooden pendant of Pharasma on his neck, with the goddess' bright comet painted onto it, he could be mixed up with your average fighter at any time. At the moment his shield and axe only have crude imagery that don't really match his style yet, the only things he could find from the nearby market - he's looking forward to changing the imagery to match his deity.
Background
Grumak Doublebeard's family, ancestor after ancestor, have lived in Varisia because of their rights to a very wealthy platinum mine. It wasn't until his parents that the family begun to disperse because their mines became infested with powerful forces of the undeath, liches and higher evil beings suddenly taking over the area after one dwarf struck something he should absolutely not have. This was never told to Grumak but he found out eventually, but nevertheless his parents gave him a good extra hatred towards the undead and taught him to fight them, in case he would ever meet them.
His former name was Grumak Godsilver. The surname was that of every dwarf in his blood line until recently, as the platinum riches came to a halt and ebbed from the family reserves. After a recent happenstance however, some few years ago, he took the name Doublebeard. The chain of events was as follows: He was becoming a cleric of Pharasma after leaving for journeys from home, wanting to help his kind and one day perhaps revenge what the undead did to his prosperous progenitors. He was carrying out his pilgrimage to the famous city of Greyhawk by Lake Encarthan, and on his journey there, in the harbor city of Korvosa, he met up with the famed Professor Petros Lorrimor. Petros was also headed for Greyhawk, along with another cleric of Pharasma and a few stout warriors. The first big challenge from Korvosa to Greyhawk is of course through The Bloodsworn Vale, and nothing less than a malevolent otyugh, an aberrant attacked the party from the shadows of the vale at night. Before the more experienced cleric and the fighters could banish the aberration, Grumak was struck by its diseased claws -sprouting tentacle limb, which ripped a chunk of flesh clean off his chin and split his lower lip. The aberration's toxic slime infested the wound and no beard ever grew from the large scar that formed on Grumak's chin. However with his positive dwarven mindset, he came to a conclusion that no beard was lost per say; he now treats the left large tuft on his chin one beard, and the one on the right another. Hence, Doublebeard. Professor Lorrimor was naturally interested in the disease and infection that sprouted in Grumak and took the dwarf as his patient. Ultimately friendship formed between the two, and they only parted after they had spent a couple of weeks in Greyhawk as Grumak's chin was healing.
At the age of 54 Grumak is still quite a young dwarf. Becoming a cleric was the first big step, but he doesn't intend to leave it there - his plans to bring justice to the old family of Godsilver, recapture the mines that is, have a few more steps planned...
