Shallows Negotiating Method

Cost: 10m, 1wp; Simple (Indefinite) Prereqs: Ess. 3, Sail 5, Hull-Preserving Technique, Wave-Riding Discipline

The exalt can sail her ship in shallow water. As long as there is about a one foot of water, or enough to cover the vessel's keel, whichever is less, any waterway can be navigated through without penalty. The charm provides enough clearance for the craft below the surface. This charm doesn't provide extra space sideways, however, so especially narrow creeks can pose a problem. If the charm is ended in place where the ship can't fit, it is stuck in whatever is under the water. Stopping on something that can't support the ship's weight and volume without the charm can prove disastrous.

With ess. 4 repurchase the exalt can sail in *any* amount of water. Morning dew on grass, heavy rainfall or fog is enough to support the vessel. If there is at least some water around the ship, the exalt can also sail upwards or downwards in a shallow angle. The exalt can also sail in other appropriately fluid mediums, eg. sand or long grain.

With ess. 5 repurchase the the exalt can sail in *any* medium apart from dry air. Sailing in solid ground or other unyielding medium imposes a -2 penalty to speed and leaves a deep furrow in the ship's wake. The ship can also sail up or down in any angle up to 90 degrees, eg. up a waterfall. Staying on board might pose a problem, though.
