Peitsen sota on syttynyt Valkokivessä juoniaan punovan liittouman ja Takhisikselle uskollisten joukkojen välille. On selvinnyt, että jo kolmesataa vuotta sitten kavala Solamnialainen mies varasti Takhisiksen pyhäköstä kiven, joka salli syvyyden jumalien voimien pääsyn maailmaan. Hyvyyden jumalien annettua taas papillisia ihmevoimia kuolevaisille - kaikkien sopimusten vastaisesti, ei lohikäärmearmeijalla ole ollut muuta vaihtoehtoa kuin koota rivinsä ja antaa kohtalonsa jumaliensa käsiin taistelussa vanhaa vainolaista vastaan.
Pelaajahahmot kuuluvat Musta puolikuu -palkkasoturiarmeijaan, joka on saapunut tukemaan Lohikäärmearmeijan taistelua Baliforissa. Puolikuun joukkojen tehtävänä on nyt turvata huolto läpi vapautetun maan, jossa kuitenkin vähemmistö kansasta käy edelleen sissisotaa.
