Backstory

Ennen Edwardin syntymää hänen valtiota kannattavat vanhempansa muuttivat rajamaille kun valtio kutsui kansalaisiaan asuttamaan lisää rajamaailmoja. Edward sitten syntyi pienelle kolonia planeetalle nimeltään Liberty IV. Edwardin vietti lapsuutensa ja nuoruutensa tekemässä töitä perheensä perustamalla maatilalla, olot olivat kovat eikä varoja ollut paljoa jakaa, vähäisen vapaa aikansa hän vietti parhaan ystävänsä Robertin kanssa. Edwardin ainoa yhteys viranomaisiin oli kun veron kerääjä tuli ja keräsi hänen perheeltään verot, hänen perheensä oli jo muutenkin kovilla ja hän näki veron keräyksen varkautena, tämä aloitti Edwardin inhon valtion valtaa kohtaan jo nuorella iällä.

Rajamaailmoilla valtion hallinta oli enemmän ehdotus kuin laki, tämä antoi piraateille hyvän sauman ottaa enemmän valtaa Edwardin koti maailmassa. Piraatit kohtelivat asukkaita hyvin ja jopa sijoittivat kolonian yhteisön hyvinvointiin, vastineeksi he vain halusivat piilopaikan valtion palkkaamilta palkka metsästäjiltä ja poliiseilta. Edward ja Robert ihailivat piraattien epäitsekkyyttä ja heidän unelmanaan oli tulla piraateiksi, Robertin perhe ei juurikaan pitänyt Roberttia silmällä ja eivät oikein välittäneet mitä poikansa teki, mutta Edwardin perhe vastusti piraatteja vahvasti, koska he olivat valtion kannattajia.

Edward ja Robert täytettyään 20 ryhtyivät piraateiksi Dionysius the Bastardin alla. Ennen pitkää heidän Dionysius tunnisti heidän halukkuutensa ja taitonsa ja ylensi heidät hänen luutnanteiksi ja heille annettiin omat pienet miehistönsä.

Edwardin kapteeni Dionysius the Bastard pyytää Edwardia osallistumaan valtion aluksen ryöväämiseen toisen Jean Ango nimisen piraatin kanssa. Jean Ango pettää Edwardin ja jättää Edwardin miehistöineen kuolemaan valtion sotilaiden käsiin. Edward onnistuu pakenemaan pakokapselilla, mutta ei ennen kuin hän menettää miehistönsä ja oikean jalkansa!
